Introduction
Since the very inclusion of commerce department in our institution it has been carrying on a glorious tradition. The teachers of our department are active, sincere, punctual, updated and also experienced. It is to be noted that the principal is one of the faculty members of our department. The meritorious students from different schools of Arambagh subdivision enrich our department.
It is a matter of glory that many good students of this department have passed from this institution and they are engaged in various important posts.
For promoting professional business education among the students equivalent to other B-Schools at reasonable cost, BBA is working as the new wing of our college.
Academic Activities
The normal class hours of the department range from 10:15 am to 4:15 am. Besides normal routine work, special classes, Tutorial classes and remedial classes are arranged as per the demand of the students.
Teaching – learning id not just confined to regular class-room teaching based on Chalk-and-talk method. Students are encouraged to learn on their own and express themselves freely by making then engaged in such activities as Group Discussion, Subject based Quiz and Seminar, Seminars and Workshops by University Experts, Chartered Accountants and Cost Accountants are arranged regularly to impart practical subject knowledge among the students and thereby enabling them to achieve national and international standards.
Co-curricular activities
Apart from the curricular activities, students are also motivated to take part in co-curricular activities.
- They publish a wall magazine entitled ‘SAMPAD’ regularly.
- They participate in Sports and Games as well as in the cultural competition/programs organized by the college and institutions outside both at the university and state level.
- There involvement in NCC and NSS programmed is also noticeable.
Industrial Visit/Tour
In recent past the department has organized industrial tour in different industries (DPL at Durgapur, in 2010, and VSP in Vishakhapatnam in 2011) to make the students aware of the basic functioning of the industry with the guidance of departmental teachers.
Examination and Results
- Besides Annual, Test, Class Tests, Surprise Test, Mock Test are conducted regularly to assess the achievement of the students throughout the year.
- The results of the department at the University Examination are consistently in competition with other colleges of B.U.
- The success rate ranges from 81.73% to 93.33%.
Facilities
The department has a separate library and computer laboratory.
- The Departmental library has as many as 400 books and the students have free access to it.
- The computer lab is equipped with 15 computers and 1 LCD projector.
