Overview

The department of History started functioning since the establishment of the college in 1948 offering immediate course of the subject under the University of Calcutta. In the year 1957, it started B.A. Pass course of the subject under the same university. After the establishment of the Burdwan University in 1960, the college, as well as the department came under this university with B.A. Pass course in History and one year university entrance (10+1) course of the subject. The Honors course of the department was started from the academic session 1995 to 1996.
