Department of Philosophy started its journey with the very beginning of the college that is in the year 1948. Initially, the department taught the students of intermediate classes when the subject was known as Logic. At present the department is teaching Honors and General Courses in Philosophy.

The departmental library possesses more than 200 books. Apart from regular classes, the students of this department have the opportunity to explore their innovative academic thinking through participation in seminars, group discussion etc. organized by the department.
