Brief history
The department started its journey from the date when the college was established. At present the department runs with two full time teachers and a group of part-time teachers. The teachers of the department are always sincere to complete the syllabus in due time.

Academic activities
Teaching learning is not just confined to regular classroom teaching based on chalk & talk method. Students are encouraged to learn on their own and express themselves freely by making them engaged in such activities as group discussion, quiz and subject based seminar by the students themselves. Sometimes seminars by external speakers are also arranged in order to widen the frontier of knowledge to the students. The department has a separate library of its own. It is equipped with as many as 477 books. The students can borrow books from here as well as from the ‘central library’ of the college.
Co-curricular Activities
Students publish wall magazine named ‘KISHALAY’ in which they get the opportunity of expressing their original thoughts and feelings in terms of Creative Writing. They participate in sports and games as well as in the cultural competitions organized by the college and institutions outside both at the university and state level. Their involvement in NCC and NSS Programs is also remarkable. It is notable that every year they organize a colorful teacher’s day to pay respect to the teachers.
Examination & Results
All examinations (class test, test) are conducted duly and results are published regularly. Teachers not only assess the answers scripts but also provide useful suggestions for their improvement.
