Library Facilities at Netaji Mahavidyalaya
The College Library is rich and well-equipped with as many as 40,000 titles. For its enrichment the library is indebted to some great scholars of Arambagh area and Bankura district who have contributed enormously. Subsequently UGC grants have substantially helped to develop the library. The library has a Book Bank and different seminar sections attached to it. In addition, there are separate reading rooms for teachers and the students. In the Periodical and Newspaper section there is a circulation of as many as 35 periodicals and journals and 7 dailies. At present the library has a computerized mechanism for searching and lending of books. There is also Internet access in the library. Recently it has introduced a ‘Open Access System’ and Repographic facilities for all users. For Transfer Certificate and for being sent up to the final examination, a clearance from the library is a must for the students. Departmental libraries are a special feature of the library facility of the college. As many as 20 departments have their separate libraries with a sizable number of books (mainly students friendly) and a few journals. The students can borrow books from them once or twice a week on production of respective library cards. They have also the scope for getting the relevant portions from books Xeroxed as and when necessary.

The Library has two sections.
Reference section and Reading Room
This section has 4 collections.
- Vidyanidhi Collection-The collection is mainly on arts and culture of India
- Netali Collection – This collection is specifically on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose
- Old and rare book collection – The collection contains old and rare books on various books disciplines.
- Reference Selection – The collection has Encyclopedias, Dictionaries and collected works of renowned authors.
- General books for reading purpose only – The Reference and reading section nearly 8,000 books on different subjects. Apart from books, 35 periodicals and 7 major dailies are kept to meet the need of the library users. This section remains for six days ( Monday – Saturday) from 10 am to 4 pm
Lending section:
In this section, teachers as well as students can browse through the books and select them for taking home. Users can also browse through the computerized catalogue books. Books are issued for 15 days and can be renewed for another 15 days. This section is kept open for six days (Monday – Saturday) from 10 am to 4 pm. Books can be returned on all days, but books are issued to the students from Monday to Friday.
To reduce the time lag in issuing and returning the books, the library is going to introduce the bar coding system in near future.
Reprographic Section
In library, a SHARP AR – 5520D copier – cum – scanner – cum – printer is recently installed. Students and college staffs who want some important portion of library books or journals to get xeroxed or scanned in digital format, can easily do it from the library Xerox Maxine on chargeable basis. It is important to know that only library related documents will be Xeroxed or scanned from library.
Library Bulletins
- To make users aware of the new arrival of books in the library, the central library is issuing a “New Arrivals” bulletin. A new book display will be arranged very soon.
- To make users aware of the current articles published in the journals, current content service is introduced.
Library activities
- The Central Library has organized a rare and old book exhibition on 16th December 2010.
- To make new students aware of the optimum use of library, User Orientation program is also organized every year in small batches in the library reading room.
E-books
Apart from the printed documents, college subscribes INFLIBNET – NLIST program, for which all members can access 51,000 e-books from any location by proving user id and password.
